British Columbia Chapter
History
In August 1988, the NKBA Northwest States Chapter hosted a Chapter Weekender in Victoria, BC. Attendees were treated to knowledgeable industry speakers and exciting seminars, along with some fun social events, including a tour of Butchart Gardens. At that point in time the only other Canadian Chapter was in Ontario, but because of the success of the weekend, the seeds were planted to consider a 2nd Chapter in Canada.
In early September 1988, a local steering committee was formed to discuss planning a formal meeting to get the process started. On January 26, 1990, we were officially formed as the National Kitchen & Bath Assocation’s 36th Chapter, with a total of 38 members listed on the Charter. In 1995, the NKBA Prairie Provinces Chapter was formed, and our name was changed to the NKBA BC Chapter.
Today we have over 400 members (and growing), with a combined membership in the 3 Canadian Provinces of over 1500 firms or individuals. The BC Chapter has been represented by 10 members on national committees or councils, and since 1997 there have been 2 National Presidents from Canada, with a 3rd set to take office in 2014.
Our thanks to all of you who have served as Executive Committee Members over the past 21 years, and especially to all the Presidents and Chapter Representatives. Your dedication and commitment have been instrumental in the success and growth of our Chapter, and it is because all of you that we celebrate our 20th Anniversary!
